Obituary (submitted by John Sarver): Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Joseph Wallace "Jay" Sarver, Jr., 71, who died Monday, August 28, 2006 at 8:30 p.m. in Crowley. Rev. Charles Floyd, Pastor of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, will officiate for the services. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery. The family requests visiting hours be observed Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to service time. Survivors include his wife, Maria Baron Sarver of Crowley; one daughter, Meredith S. Medus and her husband Kevin of Crowley; one sister, Kathy S. Sanchez and her husband Paul of Crowley; sister-in-law, Lana Merliss of Baton Rouge; brother-in-law, Raymond Sonnier of Kirbyville, TX; four grandchildren, Meghan Medus, Caitlin Medus, Colleen Highland and Daniel Reilly; five nieces and five nephews. Mr. Sarver was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Wallace and Olive Petry Sarver; one sister, Retha Faye S. Sonnier; one brother, Larry Lionel Sarver. Mr. Sarver was a veteran of the United States Army.
