Obituary - Colter Drake Hoffpauir, 13, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, in a boating accident in the Gulf of Mexico near Cameron. He was a native and lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He was a seventh-grade student at S.J. Welsh Middle School. He was an exceptional chess player. While in the sixth grade at S.J. Welsh, he was a member of the sixth-grade Louisiana State Championship Chess Team. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to ride horses and four-wheelers. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Charles. He is survived by his mother, Linda Swain Hoffpauir of Lake Charles; his father, Earl Hoffpauir of Lake Charles; one brother, Garrett Cy Hoffpauir of Lake Charles; paternal grandfather, Curtis Wayne Hoffpauir of Moss Bluff; and maternal great-grandmother, Cora Mae McClure of Altus, Okla. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, in First Baptist Church in Lake Charles. Dr. David Chism and Dr. John White will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation is 4:30-9 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. Saturday in the church. (LCAP 25 Apr 2003)
