Obituary: Crowley--Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on October 30, 2012 at Northside Assembly of God in Crowley, LA for Johnny Gilbert Martin, 67, who passed away after a 14 year battle with cancer on October 25, 2012 at 10:10 pm at his residence in Crowley. Rev. Loyd Singley, Senior Pastor of Northside Assembly of God will be officiating for the services.
The family is requesting visiting hours be held at Northside Assembly of God on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm and Tuesday from 8:30 am until the time of services. Interment will be in Maxie Cemetery. Johnny was a God fearing man who loved the Lord with all his heart. He would rather have Jesus than anything the world affords today. He was a faithful/moral man who was true to his convictions. He was hard working, determined, never gave up, and was truly one of a kind. He always spoke his mind and did what was right. He loved cutting grass, keeping a garden, hunting, fishing, and most of all enjoyed his time with family, grandchildren, and friends. He went to meet Jesus and now this world will never be the same. (One of Johnny's favorite verses): With God all things are possible! Matt 19:26 He is survived by his wife of 42 years Carole Hoffpauir Martin; his mother, Irabelle Moseley Martin Henderson of London, AR; two daughters, Stephanie Landry and husband Kirk of Crowley and Gretchen Cormier and husband Joshua of Rayne; one son, Chad Martin and wife Nichole of St. Amant, LA; grandchildren, Jordan Landry, Alexandra Martin, Jillian Martin, Joshua Paul Cormier and Kate Martin; step grandchildren, Davante Bourque and Charli Cormier; one step sister, Esther Ruth Henderson of Crowley, LA; four brothers, Ronnie Martin and wife Jolene of London, AR, Byron Martin and wife Arlene of Crowley, Wendell Martin and wife Florence of Crowley and Mickey Martin and wife Beth of Lester, NC and Alvin Lewis who was like a grandson to Mr. Martin. Mr. Martin is preceded in death by his father, James Albert Martin. Pallbearers will be Kirk Landry, Jordan Landry, Alvin Lewis, Joshua Cormier, Mickey Martin, and Kirk Hoffpauir.
