Obituary: Richard Lee Sparks, 72, slipped into the arms of Jesus, with his beloved wife Brenda and close friends by his side on Monday, January 7, 2019. Richard was born in Abington, PA and spent most of his adult life in Moss Bluff, LA and graduated in 1964 from Williamstown High School in New Jersey. He retired from Alcoa in 2007. He proudly served his country on the Naval destroyer, USS Robert K. Huntington during the Vietnam War. Rich, as he was called by friends, loved reading, making and flying model planes, collecting model trains, restoring antique cars and loved the outdoors and hunting. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Brenda Hoffpauir; daughter, Nicole Watts (Michael) of Swedesboro, NJ; granddaughters, Alexandra and Sydney Watts; brother, Joseph Sparks, Jr. (Mary); sister, Barbara Sparks; brother, Thomas Sparks all of Mullica Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Heart of Hospice, 750 East Bayou Pines Dr., Lake Charles, LA 70601. Visitation will be Friday, 5:00pm until 7:00pm and resume Saturday 9:00am until time of service at First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff. Services will be Saturday at 10:00am. Rev. Don Moon will officiate. Interment will be at Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ under the direction of Blake Doyle Funeral Home, Collingswood, NJ.Published in American Press on Jan. 10, 2019
