John Morgan Minter

John Minter was a member of the CSA Woodville Sharpshooters, then attached to Hood's Texas Brigade, First Texas Regiment, Co. F. He was paroled at Appamattox.
The 1st Texas fought the following battles: Yorktown, Elthams Landing, Seven Pines, Gaines Mill, Malvern Hill, Freeman's Ford, Thoroughfare Gap, Second Manassas, Boonsboro Gap, Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, Siege of Suffolk, Gettysburg, Chickamauga, Siege of Knoxville, The Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor, Bermuda, Hundred Front, Siege of Petersburg, White Oak Swamp, Chaffin's Farm,
Darby Town Road, Appomattox.
The Regiment consisted of 1302 men, 332 were killed, 476 wounded once 119 wounded twice, 25 wounded three or more times, 159 died of disease.
Co. F. had 103 men, 32 killed, 36 wounded, 14 died of disease, and 7 were taken prisoner.
His brother James G. Minter was an ordinance Sgt. in Capt. Neyland's Co. of the Woodville Sharpshooters. Later part of Wooten's Texas State Cav. in Liberty Co. along with John Stengler, Charles Wilborn and others. Archibald Laird (?) was the 4th Sgt. of Capt. McKee's Co.
