Oran Burel Linscombe

June 28, 2003 - Daily Advertiser - CROWLEY - Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2003, at Jordan Assembly of God for Oran Burel Linscombe, 81, who died at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center. Interment will be in Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery. The Revs. Wally Helfinstine and Larry Myers will officiate at the funeral services. Mr. Linscombe was general contractor and founder of Linscombe Construction Co. of Crowley, Cornerstone Village Inc. and Cornerstone Village South, both in Lafayette, and Landmark Retirement of Crowley. He was a servant of Christ and had a love for church and family and was active in building many churches in south Louisiana. The family would especially like to thank the fifth floor staff of Medical Center of Southwest Louisiana and Dr. Nathan Landry, Dr. David Autin, Dr. Michael Cain and Hospice of Acadiana for their wonderful care and support. Survivors include three sons, Bobby Linscombe and his wife, Cindy, Lance Linscombe and his wife, Nancie, of Youngsville, and Russell Linscombe and his wife, Charlotte, of Lafayette; one sister, Flossie Spell, of Lake Jackson, Texas; seven grandchildren, Lisa Leblanc, Robert Linscombe, Nandi Linscombe, Hali Marshall, Eben Linscombe, Jordan Linscombe and Jason Linscombe.; two stepgrandchildren, Chris and Ann Lege; 10 great-grandchildren, Katie, Kami, Keeley and Robert Oran Linscombe, Jarrett and Jami Leblanc, Francesca Prejean, and Zackery, Caleb and Avery Linscombe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Canvy and Sadie Morgan Linscombe; his wife, Velma Foreman Linscombe; three brothers, Elmer "Jack" Linscombe, Canvy Otha Linscombe and Enoch Arden Linscombe. Pallbearers will be Robert Linscombe, Chris Lege, Eben Linscombe, Brian Marshall, Jason and Jordan Linscombe. Honorary pallbearer will be James Smith. Visitation was observed from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Friday, and will be from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will be at the Jordan Assembly of God, 6408 Johnston Street, Lafayette from 2:30 p.m. until service time on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mexico Ministries, 403 River Oak Circle, Lafayette, LA 70508. Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley is in charge of arrangements.
