Individual Details
Nathan Perry
(1815 - 1903)
Nathan Perry was the first elected sheriff of Vermilion Parish, serving from 1848 to 1852. Robert Perry (probably a cousin) was the first sheriff, but he was appointed and declined to run for election and supported Nathan. Apparently Nathan was a resident of Calcasieu Parish when elected, he is listed in the 1850 Calcasieu Parish census.
Nathan and his second wife Emily are in the 1860 Vermilion Parish census: Nathan, age 40; Emily, age 30; Josephine, age 13; Eliza, age 11; Charles, age 9; Marguerite, age 3.
