Parker Morgan Jr.

CROWLEY — Parker Morgan Jr., 84, died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, in a Lake Charles hospital. He was born and raised in Eberenzer. He entered World War II and participated in the D-day landing in Normandy, France. He was twice-wounded and received the Purple Heart and the Silver Star for gallantry. After the war, he returned to Morse to work on the family rice farm. He later moved to Beaumont, Texas, where he retired in 1974. He lived the last 29 years of his life in Crowley. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Kay and her husband, Jimmy of Sour Lake, Texas, and Shively Lampson and her husband, Dr. Gene of Lake Charles; one sister, Almeda Morgan Frederick of Westlake; one brother, Kelly Morgan of Kerville, Texas; seven grandchildren, Emily Lampson Matlock, Thomas Lampson, Keith and Caryn Kay, Angela Kay, Daniel Lampson, Shively and Michelle Lampson and Chad and Nicole Kay; and two great-grandchildren, Adriana Matlock and Blaine Parker Kay. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Weekly Broussard; one brother, Taze Morgan; and one sister, Thesta Stutes. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 30, in Duhon Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Snider will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation is from 8 a.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. (LCAP 30 Dec 2003)
