Susan Hoffpauir was the second of Ivy L. Hoffpauir's children. It is said when she was born Ivy stated: "That's Susan and that's that", apparently meaning that there were to be no more children. But Ivy and Lulu eventually had a total of 11 children. Susan was called Susie by almost everyone. She was named after Ivy's sister Susan, or Aunt Susan to Susie and the other children.
