Mary Ruth Griffin

SHREVEPORT - Services for Mary Ruth Griffin Lawton, 74, will be conducted Saturday August 15 (1987) at the Osborn Funeral Home Chapel at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. John Van Dickens III, associate pastor of Noel Memorial United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be at Forest Park cemetery.
Mrs. Lawton was a lifelong resident of the area and a former teacher at the Central Park Elementary School in Bossier City and in Ida, La. She earned a Teacher's Certificate from Southeastern Louisiana University at Hammond, La., and later was a cum laude graduate of Centenary College.
Mrs. Lawton was an active member of the Rasmussen Sunday School Class of the Noel Memorial United Methodist Church She was also active in American Contract Bridge Association and the R.S.V.P. Choral Group at Centenary College.
Preceding Mrs. Lawton in death were her parents,- the Rev. and Mrs. Daniel Leonard Griffin, her husband, Robert Charles Lawton, and their only child, Raymond Lawton.
She is survived by one sister, Margie Griffin Young of Amite, La.; and two brothers, Kenneth Griffin of Biggers, Ark. and Marion Edward Griffin of Amite, La.
Pallbearers will be James L. Sullivan, Pierce S. Graham, James A, Graham, Alan Beason, Bruce G. Roberts and W. Knox Andress. Honorary pallbearer: V.N. Alexander
Memorials may be made to the Noel Memorial United Methodist Church.
