Pte. George Hurst, son of Mrs. Thompson of Iffley, and a native of Chalgrove, was killed in France on October 26. He was very much liked and respected by all who knew him. He went to Canada, where he was a member of a Canadian Band. He was a member of the Chalgrove Band before he left the country. Ten men from Chalgrove have been killed and one is a prisoner of war. Five of these were members of the Chalgrove band, conducted by Bandmaster A. W. Higgs.
