Sir Richard WILLIAMSON

Biography
Richard is said to be the ancestor of all the Virginia Williamsons.
He first came to Virginia in 1638 but returned to England shortly thereafter. In 1641, Richard returned to Virginia for good. His passage was paid for by Ambrose Bennet.
Settling in Isle of Wright County, Richard soon began acquiring property. He named the family home "Cobham Hall." That land was thought to have been purchased in 1641.
There is confusion over Richard Williamson's wife. He was married twice --- to Margaret Brown and Margaret Sherwood.
