BurialBiggs-Staten Cemetery. Located about three miles from town on the Washington Road on land that had been in the Biggs family since Joseph Biggs acquired in 1755. James G. Staton inherited it from Louisa Biggs, his grand- mother, who had inherited it from her father William, who was the third son of Joseph Biggs. There was a memorial for Joseph in this cemetery. It seems that he was buried in an old cemetery out in the woods. On the marker were the following:"Joseph Biggs from England to Virginia, to Martin County, North Carolina; married Margaret Eastwood, parents of William Biggs, who married Millie, parents of Thomas Biggs,etc.",
