Sir John York(e); Sheriff of London and Lender Treasurer of the Mint (1550's). Possibly one in the same.

Sir William Wade calls Sir John York(e) "cosen". The Wades of Kilnsea were said to be related to the Earl of Cumberland.

Sir John York of Goldthwayt, Yorkshire, was knighted at Whitehall, 16th of June, 1560, and died in London, a citizen of York, in 1568. His will is proved in Register 4, Sheflfeld, Perogative Court of Canterbury (1568).

Implicated in the "Gunpowder Plot".
