Born in Cherokee Nation; Leader of Arkansas & Texas Cherokees for new settlement in the West; 4 wives and many children; murdered by political rivals, near Henderson Texas in 1827; admired for his active leadership to further progress of his Cherokee people.

Richard Jr. was the son of Englishman, Richard Fields, Sr. and Susannah Emory, Cherokee. Chief Richard's birthdate is est. 1770-71 at Echota [Cherokee town], in the Cherokee Nation, [later TN & North. GA.]
