Individual Details

Peter VANBIBBER I

(25 May 1695 - Aft 6 Apr 1769)

Peter VanBebber was born in Pennsylvania. He removed to Cecil County, Maryland with his parents. The record of his birth is recorded in St. Stephens Parish. His name begins to appear in records in 1720. He is named in his father's will in 1723. An inventory of his father's estate is signed by Peter, as next of kin. His first residence was near Baltimore, Maryland, from here he had land in Chester County, Pennsylvania, 1724. He enters 100 acres of land in 1733 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and still later, in 1738 his name appears on a petition forming Berks County, Pennsylvania.

The first records appear in 1741 in Orange County, again in 1748 in the area of Bedford County as a tithable with his eldest son, Isaac. In 1749 and 1750, the list includes another son, Peter VanBebber, Jr. The family is found in Pittsylvania County, formerly Halifax county, 1758 and 1759 providing provisions for the French and Indian War. The last record of Peter VanBebber, Sr. is the record of a deed made April 6, 1769, made to John Farguson. It is assumed that he died sometime after this date either in Pittsylvania county or Botetourt County, where the family had moved from Pittsylvania County.
