John EASLEY Sr
(1682 - 4 Apr 1742)
!John Easley lived on the 324 acre grant which had been granted to Jeremiah Benskin, his father-in-law. In August 1711 he petitioned for acquisition of his wife's estate, then in the hands of John Bolling. He was involved in law suits with Philip Purcell, Edward Watkins, William Byrd, William Finney, John Bolling and John Martin between 1709 and 1724. On October 6. 1735, he bought 400 acres on Powhick Creek in Dale Parish, Henrico Co., from Henry Cary for 24 pounds. In 1736 he paid quit rents on both tracts. In November, 1739, he and his son John acknowledged a deed to his brother Warham. He died shortly before April 1742, and his will was probated by his brother Warham as his executor in May 1742. their name:Islyn & in Fr.:Esle, some early American records spelled it Esle &
later became Easley. From Switz. they moved to France(ca.1400s)& were Huguenots..
After the Massacre of St.Barthelomew, they fled to the British Isles.
