Notes
Military
"The 8th Field Artillery was formed during America's mobilization for World War I. ... The regiment containing the 8th Field Artillery was assigned to the 7th Division in December 1917. As the general support artillery regiment of the division, the 8th deployed to Europe with 155-mm howitzers. After landing in France in August 1918, the 7th Division (less division artillery) joined the United States Second Army in October. The division's artillery arrived at the front in mid-November after receiving additional training in Brittany. Although they were too late to participate in combat, the 8th earned a World War I streamer for serving in a war theater.Endnotes
