Gerald Thomas “Jerry” Briles, 67, of Stephens City,VA, died Monday, June 8,2015 at the VA Medical Center in Washington, D.C.Mr. Briles was born in1948 in Washington, D. C.,the son of the late Josephand Helen Briles. He was aveteran of the U.S. Army,serving four tours inVietnam and attaining the rank of Sergeant. Hereceived the Silver Star, theBronze Star, the PurpleHeart and numerous othermedals during his militaryservice. He was a construction worker, a member of the Order of the Purple Heart and aloyal Redskins fan.Mr. Briles married Lisa M. Briles on December 30,1989 in Hocking County,Ohio.Surviving with his wifeis a brother, David Briles(Judy) of Bowie Maryland.He was preceded in deathby a sister, Joanne Kryder.The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. onFriday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.A funeral service will beconducted at 5 p.m. onFriday at the funeral home with his father-in-law, Mr.John Maisch officiating,followed by a reception atSouth Chapel.
