High Point - Mrs. Bertie Hill Routh, 81, of 6917 Harlow Road, died at 10:28 p.m. March 13, 2000, at her residence after several months of declining health.
She was born July 14, 1918, in Randolph County, a daughter of Edgar and Bertha Briles Hill. She was a homemaker and a day care keeper. She was a lifelong resident of High Point. She was a charter member of Friendship United Methodist Church. On Sept. 4, 1937, she married Kernie Routh, who preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1983. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. A.B. (Christine) Jordan.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Don (Faith) Scism of High Point, Mrs. Ann Harrell of Charlotte, Mrs. Shirley Holder of High Point, and Mrs. Sue Stroud of Archdale; three sons, Carl Edward Routh of High Point, Curtis W. Routh and his wife, Jean, of Trinity, and Roger Gene Routh and his wife, Pat, of Greensboro; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Alvin (Ava) Chandler of Trinity.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. Arnold R. Johnson and the Rev. John L. Stewart. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
