Robert Ray Cox, age 83, of Asheboro succumbed to illness Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 16, 2019 from Noon-1:30 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The Memorial Service will follow Thursday at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Johnny R. Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Providence Friends Meeting Cemetery, Pleasant Garden. Born June 3, 1935 in Randleman, NC the son of Robert Lee and Bessie Briles Cox.He is survived by: son and his wife: Mark and Shelia Cox of Asheboro, NC; daughter and her husband: Debbie and Keith Collins of Johnson City, TN; daughters: Susan James and Lori Ratliff both of Johnson City, TN; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; brother and his wife: Burnis and Dolores Cox of Randleman; brother: Carroll Cox of Asheboro; brother and his wife: Norman "Fat" and Becky Cox of Asheboro, NC; sister and her husband: Doris and Clyde Cummings of Greensboro; sister and her husband: Peggy and Horace Edwards of Morganton, NC; sister and her husband: Margie and David Scott of Greensboro; brother and his wife: William "Pee Wee" and Margaret Cox of Greensboro; brothers: Roger Cox and David "Peak Top" Cox both of Greensboro, NC.
