Gordon Perry Hoover, 55, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, April 25, 2019.Memorial services are going to be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at High Pine Wesleyan Church, Asheboro with Pastor Wyatt Hoogkamp, and Pastor Justin LaBarre officiating.
Born in Randolph County, NC, on July 17, 1963, Gordon was the son of the late Wilton Perry Hoover and Dorothy Childress Hoover Johnson. He had spent his entire career in the car business and was working at Strider Buick GMC Subaru, where he served not only as a co-worker, but as a friend. He was well known and highly respected by people all over North Carolina.
Gordon loved coaching baseball and served as a father figure to young people both on and off the field. They came to him frequently for advice and guidance. He was a compassionate and loving person. Most of all he was a family man. Gordon made sure his family was always provided for and was their rock and glue. He was also a big Elvis Presley fan, acquiring that from his Aunt Trick.
Surviving are his wife, Myra Smith Hoover; sons, Zack Hoover of Asheboro, Nathan Hoover and fiancee Brooke Baxter of Asheboro; brother, Dean Hoover and wife Denise of Asheboro; grandchildren, Chloe Hoover, Claira Hoover; aunt, Patricia Cole and husband Eddy of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and other times at the home.
