Death
Evansville, Ind. - Candice (Garnett) Dodson, 59, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020.Candice was born in Evansville, Indiana on November 27, 1960 to Thomas Eugene "Gene" and Dixie Ann (Briles) Garnett. She graduated from Central High School and received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University, Bloomington. Candice went on to earn a Masters of Education from Indiana State University, Terre Haute, an Administrator Leadership, Administrative Licensure from University of Southern Indiana, Evansville, and a Leadership Institute Certificate from Brown University, Providence, RI. She was the Director of eLearning at the Indiana Department of Education for nearly a decade and the current State Education Technology Directors Association Executive Director. The lives she has touched throughout the state of Indiana and the nation are better and stronger because of her hard work and dedication to student learning. Candice had innovative ideas and a passion for education, but what made her so special was her heart. No one cared as much about kids, technology, and learning as Candice. Above all else, Candice was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister and "CiCi" to her grandchildren. She was the rock of the family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Candice is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert Jeff Dodson of Evansville, IN; daughter, Madeline Dodson of Evansville, IN; son, Zachary Dodson (Danielle) of Sellersburg, IN; brother, Patrick Garnett (Ed Devereux) of Miami Beach, FL; father, Thomas Eugene "Gene" Garnett of Evansville, IN; and by her grandchildren, Dayton and Dean Dodson.
Candice was preceded in death by her mother.
Friends may visit from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711. The family requests that you please wear a mask.
