Funeral Service Held Monday at Methodist Church in Colfax
William Henry Briles, 70, former resident of this community, died at his home in Danville, Ill., July 4th.
Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church in Colfax Monday afternoon with the Rev. Paul K. Potter officiating.
William Henry Briles was born in Warren county near Foster, Indiana on Feb. 16, 1876, and passed away on July 4th, 1946 at Danville, Ill., at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 18 days. He was the son of Cyrus and Katherine Briles.
He was united in marriage to Ida Ellen Gouty at Danville, Illinois, on January 23, 1898. To this union were born nine children. They resided near Danville until 1907, then moving to Colfax, Iowa; where they resided until 1910 when they moved back to Illinois, living there three years, then moving back to Colfax, living near there until the death of his wife January 22, 1930.
He returned to Indiana in the year 1932, making his home with his mother. On March 2, 1932, he married Mary M. Briles at Covington. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and nine children, Thomas of Prairie City, Iowa; Blanch, Glant and Grace of Colfax, Iowa; Lula of Des Moines, Iowa; Dot of Prairie DuChien, Wis.; Arthur of Waterloo, Iowa, Herschel of Ankeny, Iowa, and George of Collins, Iowa. Ten grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends also survive. One grandchild, Donald Wayne Beals passed away June 10, 1927. He leaves two brothers, David of Danville and Cyrus of near Indianapolis and one sister, Mrs. Katherine Lang of Covington. His father and mother and two brothers, Charles and Bernard preceded him in death. His only regret was to leave his loved ones behind.

Last Rites For Wm. H. Briles
Last rites were held for Wm. H. Briles July 8th from the Colfax Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Potter officiating. Mr. Briles died at Danville, Ill., July 4th after an extended illness.
Pallbearers were John Clippinger, Earl Plummer, Dale Hadsall, Logan Ward, Richard Evans and Earl Pink.
Flower committee – Mrs. Aart Kaldenberg, Mrs. Frank Bloomquist and Mrs. Gladys Brown, Des Moines and Mrs. Carl Tiffany.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Earl Plummer, Mrs. George Rinker, B. F. Van Dyke and M. A. Binkerd with Wm. Cubit accompanist.
Burial was had in the McKeever cemetery.
