Hobson Leon Skeen

Mr. H. Leon Skeen, 90, of High Point, passed away on September 21, 2017, at his home.  Leon was born on June 24, 1927, in Thomasville, NC, a son to the late Hobson Dewey Skeen and Nona Loftin Skeen.
Leon graduated from Thomasville High School and NC State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  His career was with the Monsanto Company in St. Louis, MO, where he travelled many times to Europe on engineering projects.
In 1957, Leon married Virginia VanSant of Woodstock, GA.  Their surviving children are Ken Skeen of Portland, OR, and Jan Chezem of Allen, TX.
After retiring from Monsanto, he and Virginia moved to High Point.  He served as an adjunct professor at A&T University.  Leon loved all sports and excelled at tennis.
Leon was preceded in death by his wife.  In addition to his children, he is survived by his sisters, June Hunt of Greensboro, NC, and Charlesanna Marsh of Jamestown, NC; and three grandchildren of Allen, TX.
The family requests that any memorials be extended to the Hospice of Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
Special thanks to his wonderful primary caregiver, Robin Hicks, his Home Instead caregivers, and his neighbors especially, Malcolm Cooper who gave him much companionship and support.
