Norris Powell K. Garrett, bon on February 22, 1922 at Swepsonville, North Carolina, the son of Walter Garrett enlisted in the United States Army at Camp Croft, South Carolina on November 2, 1942, "for the duration of the War or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law". He had completed high school, was single with dependents (his father was deceased in 1942), working in the manufacture of textiles, 5'9" tall, and weighing 158 lbs.Private Garrett, service number 3443754, was killed on November 26, 1944 and was interred at Plot C Row 5, Grave 35 in the Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial at Saint-Avold, Departement de la Moselle, Lorraine, France, having been awarded the Purple Heart.

Garrett who is in service in France; his step mother Mrs. Mamie Garrett of Swepsonville; two half sisters and one half brother
