Claude Bynum Ashby, 67, of Walnut Street, died Friday morning, June 24, 2005, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
The funeral will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at Open Door Baptist Church by Dr. Gary Gibson. Burial will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Ashby was born March 16, 1938, in Guilford County to Charlie Mack Ashby and Octa Leanna Hudspeth Ashby. He was a retired truck driver, having worked for Land Star Transportation in Jacksonville, Fla. He attended Open Door Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Ashby, Raymond Ashby and Marvin Ashby, and one sister, Linnie Mae Jones.
Surviving are his wife, Patsy Ann Crotts Ashby of the home; a daughter, Claudette Tilley and husband, Tim, of Lexington; a son, Kevin Wayne Ashby and wife, Rachel, of Lexington; brothers Frank Ashby of Lexington, Robert Ashby of Mooresville and Lloyd Garland Ashby of Sanford; grandchildren, Marshella Dawn Ashby of Walnut Island, N.C., Charlie Callaway Ashby of Lexington, Kelsey, Lynsey and Cierra Tilley, all of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Piedmont Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of the son at 55 Cedar Drive.
