LEXINGTON - Gladys Victoria Kearns Morris, 89, of Linwood Road died at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after a three-day illness. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member, conducted by the Rev. Frankie Matthews and the Rev. Jimmy Green. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.
Mrs. Morris was born Feb. 5, 1912, in Davidson County to Marvin Lee Kearns and Ida Hedrick Kearns.
She was retired from Frank IX & Son and was preceded in death by her first husband, John Edward Hill Sr., in 1932 and also her second husband, Nealie Malcom Morris, in 1963. Surviving are sons, John Edward Hill Jr. and wife Barbara and Joe Robert Morris and wife Charlean, all of Lexington; daughters Joy Hill Everhart and husband Ford, Joyce Hill Lucas and husband Charles Ed, Sue Morris Bowman and husband Woody, all of Lexington and Lorraine Hill Crotts and husband Benny of Winston-Salem; 14 grandchildren, Steve Hill, Eddie Hill, Brent Hill, Beth Monk, Gail Westmoreland, Lou Clifton, Ava Michael, Perry Crotts, Von Crotts, Kim Crotts, Dean Morgan, Craig Morgan, Wanda Thompson and Lisa Plummer; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; brothers M.L. Kearns and wife Virginia of Lexington; and a sister, Mary Kearns Smith of Linwood.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel and other times at the home of Woody and Sue Bowman, Odell Owen Road, Lexington.
