Joel McKenneth Briles, age 85 of Gainesville, Florida passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015. He was born February 13, 1929 in South Bend, Indiana to Fayette Andrew and Annabel Cunningham Briles.
Mr. Briles was the owner of Acme Cash Register in Peoria, Illinois and Ft. Myers, Florida. He was a big supporter of his three daughters and their endeavors. His family, work and golf were his life. He loved Notre Dame Football. He was a private pilot and a US Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Briles of Gainesville, FL; daughters, Nancy Briles of Gainesville, FL, Jill Briles-Hinton (Bob) of Richmond, VA, Jody Jacobs of Carmel, IN; grandchildren, Bert Hinton, Mac Jacobs, Mary Jacobs and Trinity Briles-Grafft.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Jeff McGowan as celebrant.
