Death
Mrs. Edna Frances Hunt Leonard, 88, a resident of Thomasville, passed away Monday, April, 17, 2017 at Thomasville Medical Center. She was born in Randolph County on December 21, 1928 to the late Alson Lindsay Hunt and Mauda McLeod Hunt. Mrs. Leonard worked at the Winn Dixie bakery for many years and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where she participated in WMU, the Lady’s Sunday school class, and a past member of the choir. Edna was the matriarch of her family and lit up any room she entered. She loved to cook, bake cakes for all of her family and friends, and especially loved her garden and flowers. Edna loved her husband, Glenn Leonard dearly. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Lena Surratt, Dorothy Conrad, Ruby Hunt, and Marion Jean Hunt; seven brothers, George Hunt, Charles Hunt, Albert Hunt, Junior Hunt, Austin Hunt, Thurman Hunt, and Brooks Hunt. Surviving are her husband Glenn Leonard of the home; two daughters, Renee Whitley and Mark of Henderson, Nevada, and Martha Chris Miller and husband Fletcher of Asheboro; one son, Richard Curtis Leonard of Bedford, PA; two brothers, Bryce Hunt and wife Alta of Thomasville and Hines Hunt and wife Mary Jane of Hickory; four grandchildren, Jessica Coleman and husband John of Carolina Beach, Richard Curtis Leonard Jr. of High Point, Brian Miller and Alicia Miller ; and five great-grandchildren, Luke Coleman, Ezekiel Leonard, Olivia Renee Leonard, Kayla Rain Miller and Hagen Miller. A funeral service will be held on Thursday April 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Thomasville with Dr. Jay Lambeth and Rev. Bynum Orr officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow the service at Holly Hill Memorial Park.
