Fred Cranford
(1896 - 1939)
Fred Cranford was one of seven children born to Milton W. and Priscilla Kearns Cranford.
He married Julia Frances Varner. Fred and Frances had three sons, Billy Gene, James Colon, and John Penn. Fred worked as a dairyman for Coble Dairy and lived on Chinquapin Plantation. One morning while delivering milk, he fell asleep at the wheel of his truck and it went off into a ravine not far from what is now Betsy-Jeff 4-H Camp. Fred died from his injuries, leaving his wife and three sons.
