Mahalia Love

Note: Died, at the home on the farm in Seventy-Six township, Thursday, Feb. 25, 1892, at 4:05 p.m., after an illness of nine weeks, MRS. MAHALA BRILES, wife of George M. Briles, deceased, aged 68 years, 8 months and 20 days. She leaves two daughters an d one son, besides two brothers-one in Oregon and one in Muscatine-to mourn her loss. “Aunt Mahala,” as she was called by her many friends, was born I n Gallia, Ohio, Nov. 5, 1825, and came to Iowa when she was 13 years of age. She was belove d by all for her many noble qualities of mind and heart. She was of a gentle, quiet disposition. She bore her long suffering with patience and left all to the Master’s care; but the dear mother’s voice is still in death only to answer with joy th e final summons when Gabriel calls to judgment. She was laid to rest, with loving hands, in the Kiser cemetery, not far from the home where she lived fifty-three years.
