Stephen "Olmstead" Olmsted

From History of Delware Co. by W.W. Munsell - 1797-1880 on web site for Delware Co., NY: Stephen Olmstead was an early schoolmaster. Stephen Olmsted was Town Clerk from 1826 to 1827. He was a veteran of the War of 1812.
IGI has birth of Stephen as "abt 1789" in Davenport, NY. The city of Davenport did not exist until first annual town meeting was held at the house of Widow Sigsby on Turesday 8 Apr 1817. The 13 Feb 1867 publication of Deaths from Delhi Gazette, Delware Co., NY, Stephen Olmstead died on 2 Jan 1867 at age 84 making birth in 1783.
1827 - Per the Dr. Carl Bangs book on Phineas F. Bresee, Melinda Bresee widow of Jeremiah and a Stephen Olmstead were the administrators of the estate of Jeremiah in 1827. (Also see land grant records at LDS Family History Center.)
1827 - Letters of Administration, recorded 6 April 1827, recorded in Delhi, NY, were granted to Malinda Brezee (Bresee) and Stephen Olmstead (RootsMagic #929) of the town of Davenport on the estate of Jeremiah Brezee (Bresee) late of Davenport, deceased died intestate. Stephen Olmstead was not the father of Melinda Olmstead born in 1823 and who married Timothy Y. Bresee. Stephen Olmstead may have had another daughter named Melinda.
Per e-mail 26 Feb 2000 from Pat Gilbert, 1700 maps show Olmstead and Bresee families lived close together in MA (Olmstead in the "Gore" - Bresee's around Stockbridge). E-mail 14 July 2002 from Pat, 1850 Davenport, NY census has Stephen Olmsted age 67 (thus born abt 1783), wife Hannah 65 (thus born abt 1785)
