Family Search: An official record at Boston, shows the birth at Concord, Mass., of two children, -Ruth and John- to John Tompkins, Sr., but evidence has not been found either at Boston or elsewhere of the birth of other children to John Tompkins, Sr. Inferential testimony, however, favors the view that he had another son, Nathaniel, older than Ruth and John, although the date and place of his birth are not known. Nathaniel Tompkins and John Tompkins emigrated in 1664 from Fairfield, Conn. to Westchester Co., N.Y. (Bolton) John and Nathaniel Tompkins purchased certain lands in Westchester within the limits of what was known as Eastchester on June 24, 1664. Nathaniel Tompkins died in Eastchester, N.Y. Sept. 6 1684. In his will, recorded Book of Deeds, A, p. 6, Land Records, White Plains, N.Y., he appoints his "loveing brother" John Tompkins as an executor of his estate. Nathaniel names his wife, Elizabeth and his children Nathaniel, Ann, Elizabeth, Mary and Rebeca in his will.
