Written documentation indicates he was ancestor of the Egremont, Massachusetts branch of the family. Early records of this branch of the family are more scattered than those of any of the sons of Johannes Spoor. The burning of the town records of Egremont, Massachusetts in 1850 doubtless destroyed much information regarding the early members of this branch of the family.
