Note:SOURCES: 1. Marjorie Wardwell Otten: Around 1650, Stephen was apprenticed as a tailor in Ipswich. Upon completion of same, he removed to Haverhill where his brother, John Webster II, had operated a saw mill from 1653 until 1657.

"Genealogical and Personal Memoirs, Relating to the Families of the State of Massachucetts" by William Richard Cutter, A.M., page 1374. - Steven came to Haverhill with his mother and step-father, John Emery Sr. He served under Sergeant John Webster in the second garrison, in 1690. His widow Judith waived her right to administer the estate, asking the appointment of sons John and Stephen. Steven and wife deeded to John Light, October 20, 1673, a parcel of land. he bought land in Haverhill of Nathan Gould, of Amesbury, in August, 1672; of Thomas Dow, July 26, 1673; of Elizabeth Swan, April 17, 1661, and of John Williams, March 2, 1665. His sons John and Stephen sold thier shares in the estate to their brother Nathan, march 11, 1728-29.

Wit: Daniel Ela and Robert fford. Ack., and wife Hannah released dower, Oct. 21, 1673, before Nath. Saltonstall, commissioner."1
