Death by Indian attack plus the burning of his home, one of nine homes burnt, they killed and took captive near forty prisoners as described in "The History of Haverhill, MA" by B. L. Mirick dated 1832, page 95, found in CD, Electronic Edition 2004, by Heritage Books, Inc. Copy of the CD is held by me. This was the same day that Hannah Dustin, of Haverhill, was taken prisoner.
During this period each town had, by colonial law, to establish a list of settlers assigned to garrisons in each town for protections from Indian attack. Haverhill, MA's garrison was the Thomas Duston home at 665 Hilldales Ave. per "American Ancestors" magazine by the NEHGS, winter 2010, vol. 11, No. 1, page 37. Was he listed to this home?
