Samuel Kuhn Sr.
(Bet 1650 and 1655 - Bef 1715)
See "Koon and Coons Families of Eastern New York" by William Solyman Coons on page 280 and 288 found at Heritage Quest Online: Samuel Kuhn, Sr. prob born abt 1650-1655 married Catharina (Miller?).
On page 294 Samuel Kuhn, Jr. prob born abt 1672 married Elisabeth ? abt 1692?. In Aug. 1724 he was among those who chose to remain in Livingston Manor, and to accept a farm there from the 6,000 acres in the Town of Germantown allotted to the Palatines. Prob. this farm had already been occupied by some member of the family for 10 or 11 years and very likely it was the ancient Coon farm near Elizabville. Some years ago, the late "Erastus Coons" of Germantown, a descendant of this Samuel's brother Veltin Kuhn, claimed to have discovered evidence that the Coons farm had been occupied by members of his family since as early as 1715, a period of over 200 years. Pos. Samuel, Sr., Samuel, Jr. and Veltin, were all buried in the old family burial plot on this farm. Since there was no Samuel, Sr., or widow Catharine with dau. Elisabeth, listed in the census of about 1715, we believe that Samuel, Sr. had died before that date and that the Elisabeth Kuhn who married Bastian Loesche, Jr., was the daughter of this Samuel, Jr.
NEHG Register 1929 Vol 83 page 255 and 1939 Vol 93 page 208: Samuel Kuhn born Germany came to Germantown-on-the-Hudson with the Palatine immigration in 1710.
