1861 census shows his wife, Mary Ann, as a widow living at 41 Weaman St., St. Mary dist, Birmingham and a dog collar maker. He must of died then between 1851 and 1861 in Birmingham.

1855-1858 possible death dates for him are: 1855 Birm 1st Qt 6d-76; 1857 Birm 4th Qt 6d-96; 1858 Birm 1st Qt 6d-126; 1858 Birm 2nd Qt 6d-82; or 1858 Birm 4th Qt 6d-1(23)4.

1851 April marriage certificate for his son, Thomas, establishes him as the father. He was a dog collar maker and the family was living on Weaman St., Birmingham.

1851 census shows him as age 45 (born 1806) living at 41 Weaman St., St. Mary district, born in Birmingham and a dog collar maker. He was living with his wife, Mary Ann, age 46 and children: Mary Ann age 22, Thomas age 20, Emma age 18, and William age 16.

1841 census shows him as age 30 (born 1811) living on Weaman St., St. Mary, Birmingham, a dog collar maker and born in the county. He was living with his wife, Mary, age 35 and the following children: John age 10, Mary age 10, Thomas age 10, Emma age 5 and William age 5.

1831 christening of his son, Thomas, is per the Bishop's Transcripts showing him as a dog collar maker living on Sawley St., St. Phillips district, Birmingham.

1829 birth and christening of his daughter, Mary Ann, is by review of the Bishop's Transcripts for St. Philip's. The family was living on Sawley St., Aston and he was a dog collar maker.

1827 birth and christening of his son, John, is by review of the Bishop's Transcripts for St. Philip's. The family was living on Sawley St., Aston.

1826 marriage is from the IGI. Bishop's Transcript dated 13 Nov 1826 shows a John Baylis married to a Mary Ann Chambers by banns at St. Mary Church, Handsworth, Stafford Co. with Walter Landers and Mary Ann Tonk present. Bishop's Transcript dated 31 Oct. 1825 shows a John Baylis married to a Mary Ann Birbeck by banns in St. Peter, Worcester Co. with Joseph and Cararlotte Birbeck present. One of these may be correct. Should review St. Philips Parish Register for marriages 1825-1828 (film 502186) and/or St. Philips Bishop's Transcripts for marriages 1826 (film 502186).
