See "History of the Hubbell Family, containing a Genealogical Record" by Walter Hubbell dated 1881 page 43 from Heritage Quest. There were two Samuels, both sons of Richard but from different wifes. Samuel, Sr was from Richard's first wife and Samuel, Jr was from his second wife. Both were living at the same time.
