This was the date of birth given on his WWI draft registration.Birth
This is the birth date Tony Levitz, Sr. gave when he applied for a Social Security card on 17 September 1942. Although his daughter gave a different date on his death certificate, the one he gave when he applied for a Social Security card is considered primary since he was more likely to know when he was born. Slovenia was a part Austria at the time he was born.Immigration
Anthony immigrated from Loz in present day Slovenia (then Austria Hungary) to the United States. He left from Boulogne, France and arrived at Ellis Island in New York on 17 February 1901 on the ship Pretoria. His destination was listed as 147 Madison Street, Cleveland, Ohio. There was a Tomas Levec from Loz on the same ship with him that went to a different address in Cleveland, Ohio. It is not known how they might be related to each other.Census
He was enumerated in the 1905 Minnesota state census on 20 June 1905. According to the census, he had been in the state and enumeration district 46 for two months. He listed his destination as Cleveland, Ohio on the ship manifest when he came into Ellis Island.Endnotes
