Birth
His birth date in the 1900 census is December, 1855. His birth date on his marriage license application is 1854. His birth date on his death certificate is 1 August 1853. Since his birth dates are inconsistent, a birth date of from 1851 to 1852 from when he appears in the 1860 and 1870 censuses with his parents and siblings is probably more accurate. He was older than his sister Charlotte in these two censuses. Charlotte was born 18 February 1854 according to her death certificate.Endnotes
