Margaret McNaughton gives him a mortgage in 1803 requiring him to pay the annual interest on the mortgage but does not require payment of the principal by a certain date. In 1817 the heirs of Margaret McNaughton: James Hamilton, Mary Hamilton, Daniel McNaughton, and Jennet Frasier issue him a certificate of satisfaction. He and James Hamiltion purchased property from Daniel McNaughton in 1802. He sold property to Finlay McNaughton in 1809. It is believed that Margaret Nichols was a daughter of Margaret McNaughton and that Finlay N. Nichols was a son of Timothy and Margaret Nichols. Mary Hamilton, Daniel McNaughon, and Jannet Frasier as well as Finlay McNaughton were probably siblings of Margaret Nichols. These relationships are inferred from the deeds and mortgages in Washington County, New York. The mortgage from Margaret McNaughton to Timothy Nichols is the most important document supporting this.
