Notes
Marriage
James could not be located in the 1900 census when his wife Ellen and their children were living with their daughter Olive and her husband Adam Strauss. James and Ellen Wiley were living together in the 1895 Kansas State census. Evidently they separated sometime between 1895 and 1900. James Wiley was living by himself in the 1910 census prior to his death in 1911. Ellen Wiley was living with her son William in the 1910 census. Ellen later received a pension as the Civil War widow of James Wiley so they must never have divorced.Endnotes
