Individual Details
John MCMILLEN
(Bet 1740 and 1750 - Bet 26 May 1830 and 28 Jul 1831)
John McMillen may have had a daughter Elisa married to Allen Foster. His daughters Jane and Susannah leave the bulk of their estate to their "next friend" and niece Sarah Jane Foster in their wills. There is a Sarah Jane Foster with an Elisa Foster who is a widow in the 1850 census in Plum Creek Township, Armstrong County living near Jane and Susan McMillin. There is an Allen Foster, age 40 to 49, in the 1840 census in Plum Creek Township, Armstrong County who is not in the 1850 census living near Susanah McMillin.
There was a William McMillen living in Derry Township, Westmoreland County in the 1790 census and a William and Robert McMillen living near each other in the 1798 Direct Tax for Derry Township.. Was William McMillen a brother of John McMillen? Was Robert McMillen a son of William McMillen? A Robert McMillen who died about 1843 in Derry Township leaves bequests to a Smith McMillen in his will as well as Robert McMillen, a son of his brother Thomas. John McMillen had a son Smith McMillen. Was this the same person as the one mentioned in Robert McMillen's will?

Notes
Probate
John McMillen and his son Smith McMillen purchased 156 acres together in Plumcreek Township, Armstrong County on 16 October 1807. Smith McMillen sold his undivided one half to his brothers, William and Robert McMillen, sometime before 1830 when their father wrote his will. When John McMillen's son Robert died without any lineal descendants, Robert's interest (an undivided one fourth interest) reverted back to his father. John McMillen wrote his will on 26 May 1830 and gave Robert's interest in his farm to his son William. The rest of his farm he left to his two unmarried daughters, Jane and Susanah McMillen. He named Daniel McMillen as his executor. Although Daniel McMillen is not named as his son in his will, a biographical article for William McMillen in the Indiana County, Pennsylvania History by Caldwell states that Daniel McMillen was a son of John and Mary McMillen, natives of Ireland.Endnotes
