Polly's brother, John Baughman, applied for guardianship of the children after their mother died. May Term 1851 In the matter of the petiton of John Baughman for the appointment of guardian for the minor children of Polly his sister. At an Orphans Court held at Brookville in and for the county of Jefferson on the 12 day of May 1851- Upon the petition of John Baughman of the township of Beaver setting forth that his sister Polly died leaving three illegitimate children all under the age of fourteen years. To wit Moses of the age of 10 years Polly of the age of 8 years and Adam of the age of 6 years that they have no guardian to take care of their person and estate and praying the court to appoint some fit person as guardian. The court appoints John Baughman guardian of the said minors.
