James Marcus Prather's notebook states that James was born 8 June 1874 and that a baby boy (his brother) was born and died on 23 Sept. 1875. Steve therefore must have been born in at least 1876 but before 1879 when James' notebook states that Jim and Steve moved with the family to Kansas.
